Kew Green Hotels appoints director of development

Kew Green Hotels has appointed Sam Barrell as director of development, where he will be responsible for driving the group’s domestic and international growth strategy.

The appointment follows the recent announcement that Kew Green Hotels is expanding into South East Asia, having signed seven hotels in the region, in addition to the announcement of an exclusive partnership with Light Human Hotels to launch hotels from the end 2021 in eight international destinations.

Barrell will oversee Kew Green Hotels’ asset management and development activities including management contracts, joint venture partnerships and direct acquisitions. He is also the senior contact for investment partners, commercial agents and development advisors.

He joins Kew Green Hotels from his role as development manager for UK and Ireland at IHG, where he grew IHG’s branded portfolio across the UK and Ireland through franchise license and hotel management agreements.

During his tenure, he also secured partnerships with new IHG owners in addition to signing extensions and retention of existing assets.

He spent early career working internationally as a finance and strategy management consultant at Deloitte, following the completion of their graduate program. He worked in the private sector for a range of clients in the banking, insurance and energy industries.

Chris Dexter, CEO of Kew Green Hotels, said: “I am delighted to welcome Sam to Kew Green Hotels to support with our continued ambition to become the leading international hotel management company, continuing to provide outstanding performance and industry-leading profit delivery for our hotels, owners and partners across the world.”
